April 10th was the first real chase day of the 2019 season. I had been out a few days prior, but mostly they were just messing around with local stuff. However, this day the SPC had an enhanced risk of severe weather for the area along the Nebraska-Kansas border south of me, mostly for hail, but I decided to check it out anyway.

Severe storms were expected to fire along the Front Range in Colorado and migrate eastward throughout the day. With high CAPE values and moist dewpoints expected in the Nebraska Panhandle area, this appeared to be a relatively favorable area for supercells and possible tornadoes with the easterly upslope flow.

July 18th was another after-work chase day. The SPC had outlined a 5% tornado risk from Murdo, SD to Columbus, NE as a surface warm front was forecast to be draped across southern South Dakota. Scattered storms were expected along and south of the boundary.

This wasn’t really an expected chase day for me. I knew storms were expected to form across eastern Colorado but it was a regular workday for me so I wasn’t expecting to go anywhere.

Another local chase presented itself on June 18th as a low pressure was expected to meander across Central Nebraska with an attendant stationary front draped east/west north of Omaha with low 70° dewpoints pooling south of the front. Meanwhile a shortwave impulse was progged to track into northeastern Nebraska triggering scattered thunderstorms.
