May 23, 2019 – Slapout – Laverne, OK Tornadoes

May 23rd featured an expansive enhanced risk of severe weather stretching from Emporia, KS southwest into the southern Texas Panhandle. A stationary front was positioned across Northern Oklahoma into the Texas Panhandle. South of this feature dewpoints into the upper 60s to low 70s was advecting into the area setting the stage for severe weather as MLCAPE values were forecast to reach 3,000 J/Kg.

June 6, 2018 – Laramie, Wyoming Tornadic Supercell

After the last chase on the 3rd in New Mexico proved somewhat successful, I spent the 4th repositioning north from New Mexico to South Dakota. The plan was to chase North Dakota on the 5th, but despite a 2% tornado risk near Bismarck, that day ended up being a bust. I drove from Bismarck to Rapid City that evening and planned to chase the I-25 corridor in Wyoming on the 6th. I just didn’t know whether it would be northern or southern Wyoming.Read more
